So Cal Water's very own Norma Lara was interviewed by Valley Women Magazine to help inspire other young business women

Public health is something that Norma, president of So Cal Water Solutions, has valued from a young age. Her family worked in a medical clinic in Mexicali that instilled the importance of providing the service of maintaining health in her community.

She entered the water treatment industry in 1998 as a Hague Quality Water distributor. The opportunity helped get her feet wet (pun intended) and gain an understanding of water issues in the local area.

"Early in my career, I was able to recognize that we had raw surface water going into homes and that it required special attention," Norma said. She became determined to approach the typical domestic water treatment practices in a new way.

Norma focused on creating a business model that centered on service and proactive solutions, like providing preventative maintenance on equipment after installation. She decided to open her own business at the age of 26 in the Imperial Valley.

"It's a privilege to have been entrusted by others to allow us to complete their projects in their homes and businesses," Norma said. " It's my hope and mission to inspire others to strive for excellence in every aspect of their lives."

Looking forward, Lara has enjoyed the opportunity to speak at schools during career days to help inspire young children  to become entrepreneurs and contractors.

"This is something near and dear to me because you can see the inspiration in the chlidren, especially the little girls who see another girl just like them doing something so big."
